S A R C A S M “witty language used to convey insults or scorn”

Wow! Talk about riling up the natives! A sarcastic post about Internet Explorer and a full scale revolt takes hold. I love it!

I did have a look into this and it’s not the javascript causing it. I removed it and it had no effect in IE. I googled “IE6 Redraw Problem” and it seems like it might be something with the layout of the page or my CSS. People are certainly having trouble with it.

I’d go on in greater detail about how Microshaft refuses to conform to the W3C standards but some of you know where I live…

I still maintain that this is a problem with how Microshaft processes the code as my page works just great in Mozilla and Safari. However for the circumspect users in the crowd, I’ll attempt to get this sorted out.

So, for the first time ever, I had a cleaning lady come in and do my apartment. She did a good job on the apartment, did my dishes and laundry. I then considered that I might be about to lose my job and that if I applied myself, I too could do it all in two hours and pay myself $30. I smell a layoff…

Nice to have the weekend off. I was planning to work Saturday but the PM sent an email out saying that we should rest this weekend. I thought that was nice; it’s hard enough to focus during the week without working on the weekend.

I checked my mail (I like to make sure it’s still working) and it looks like my previous team was in. Sorry about that Biff…

Pick my nose

[UPDATE] This really sucks… Our good buddy John is gone but he is the only one we know for sure but by no means the only one. I got the hell out of there as I wasn’t about to watch the parade as I’ve done so many times.

We had a noon meeting and were told that there will be reductions in Development. Currently they’re trying to do the integration of Infowave and Telispark and until that’s done, they won’t know who they need. Certainly more reason for concern and a good excuse to stand around for a week speculating.

While it really is only speculation, this might one time where being in QA is a good thing as it’s easier to move and cheaper to operate.

Still I’m not going to freak out over this… I’ve been laid off before and it’s always going to be a part of being in tech. Maybe some day I’ll be too tired to continue but that day hasn’t arrived.

If I go next week, that’ll suck particularly when you factor in that I quit another job and took a pay cut to return. I knew Infowave would be risky but I’d make the same decision again in the blink of an eye.

I guess the big question is that if I do survive, will I even want to stay. A company is always changed after something like this and this appears that it could be fairly wide spread. Time will tell.

While I should be reviewing my resume, I think I’ll lose myself in some GTA and stop thinking about it all for a while. [/UPDATE]

I’ve now installed the Infowave cube cam for your viewing pleasure. You can watch me pick my nose while I eat lunch and test our wonderful software!

Now the camera software isn’t really designed to run on XP, so the processor is running at 100% all the time but hey, it’s not my box!

I’m not sure if it will be available past today as I’m not 100% certain that I have a job past today. Time will tell, though I feel good about my chances of staying. At least there was no meeting request in my Inbox this morning…

Well, I have a status report to write but I’ll be updating on the layoff watch. *ominous music plays*

Finally

After much pain and swearing, Sevenapril Version 5 is finally up (I hope)! And on the root I might add (thanks Andrea!)

So you’re probably sitting there going “…uh, but it looks more or less the same…” That’s the idea for now. I wanted a 4.x layout with MoveableType so that Paul could spend his entire work day posting ‘witty’ comments. This also gets Karan off my back and frees him up to poll the site every ten minutes for updates.

It’s all about you guys!

Right, let’s see if this pig can fly…
