Like a kick to the head

I had the second interview ay the still un-named company yesterday. The first meeting of the day went really well; just super people and I could tell that they’d be a pleasure to work with. (Not that I’d be working with them but I digress…)

Then there was the second meeting of the day where I met the guys that I’d be working with. Ten minutes in one of them goes “We’re looking for someone more seasoned…” Great. Now I can’t help but feel that even if I did somehow get the position these two would view me as a ‘tard.

Now to be fair to them, there was a hardware failure just before I got there and they weren’t much in the mood to dick around with me given that they had to stop in the middle of fixing it to meet me. Frankly, I’ve known all along that I was lacking in several areas but I do have the ability to ‘learn stuff’ as I go.

In total I met with six people and four think I’d be great and two who like me but question my experience. On numbers I should be fine but truthfully I would have to think the two carry a greater weight than the others. Foiled again.

Shnewt sent me this today. I guess I won’t spend too much time waiting for this dog to go up much further.

Oh, before I forget, Angelo has his new site up and it looks great. I spent a bit of time spamming his ‘Last Referers’ module and leaving immature comments. I have also set up an account and may start posting stories on the physics of cow tipping…

Dumbass

Good afternoon. Did you notice today is 4/20? *wink*

That’s four, twenty *nod*

Yeah, ok. I don’t know what that means either…

My interview with the mystery company was this morning and I think it went well. Really nice people and from what we discussed, it would seem that they have a great working atmosphere. That also includes allowing people to have a life outside of work. What a novel concept that would be.

They’re talking to a few more this week and with a pinch of luck I’ll go back for a second round before being formally rejected.

Sadly, I was able to sleep last night which means that the Canucks blew chunks again. Sorry guys but you didn’t deserve to win. You didn’t even look like you were interested though the goal with five seconds remaining in the third was a nice touch.

I’ll be here as ever, watching in the fall but you really sucked. Hopefully there will be season beyond the preseason but there’ll be no more hockey for me.

Damn, damn, damn!

Tonight I figured that I’d post the next day in my trip to Asia series. I was a day ahead and would finally be able to upload a new day when I posted. I also decided it would be a good idea to back up my sites, so I sucked all my files down. Forgetting that I hadn’t uploaded the latest page, it was overwritten by the ‘Coming soon’ version, so nothing to add today. Typical of the way things are going lately.

Thanks to Daymented for pointing out that I should update my about page now that I have actually done a bit of traveling. I’m thinking about redoing that whole site as a) I have the time and b) the layout is a Dreamweaver template which always bugged me.

Karan passed along an interesting blog which is worth having a look at even if you aren’t looking for a job. Thanks buddy!

Filed under ‘Back from the dead’ I found an email from Carmen in my Inbox this morning which nearly caused me to fall out of my chair. I’d been thinking about her lately and usually when I’ve been thinking about someone they get a hold of me. How odd…

Jet Lag

Ugh… jet lag sucks; it’s way harder to come west than it is to go east. I had a nap yesterday and then tried to sleep around midnight. Nothin’ doing. I was up until almost 6AM.

I did some research for my interview while watching a terrible movie and then hit the sack. Did the alarm go off? Probably. Did I hear it? No. *curses like a sailor* Did I sleep through my interview? Yep.

So now I feel like a zombie and I missed my interview. I don’t know if I’ll hear from them again; if it were me I probably wouldn’t get back to someone who slept through an interview. Shitty but you can only be awake for so long before your body has to sleep. I really understand what Ayako was going through when she would visit; it’s so hard to be tired and unable to sleep.

I’m disappointed but what will be, will be. I’ve gone through this job search crap enough to know that everything seems to happen for a reason even if it’s not apparent at the time.

So it turns out that I got out of Korea in the nick of time as there was a big dump of snow. It had been pretty cool while I was there and getting colder as the days went on but the snow would have been a surprise. At least there was only one night of rain and the rest of the days were sunny and cool.

So tonight I’ll just take it easy and watch some TV. I feel like crap but tomorrow will be better.

Brain Cramp

Today I experienced a total brain cramp and completely forgot that I was to be going for Dim Sum at noon. I didn’t even have that “Am I supposed to be somewhere?” feeling. Nothing. Not a sausage…

I went about my normal Sunday routine and never gave it a thought until I saw the message later in the afternoon. Hmmm…. I hope this is just stress.

I’m experiencing a nice headache yet I’m still going to re-arrange my living room. I had an idea this afternoon and figured I’d give it a try. When your living room is 11 X 13 your options are pretty limited. After 18 months, I guess it might be time to try something new.

Had a nice dinner at the Newton’s on Friday evening. We enjoyed a great chicken dinner and played several games of fooz. I noticed that the booze took away from the game but made the trash talking that much more enjoyable.

Wow, this entry is really lame. I should just go to bed.
