Herro again

Ok, we’re back in business. After an ill-fated move to a sub-domain I’ve moved back to where I was all along. I would have been up sooner but I waited for the MT 3.14 upgrade. If you are running MT, you really need to upgrade lest your host pull the plug on you.

I’m getting so good at this that is took me about 45 minutes to do a complete install of MT. Now, I patiently wait for an upgrade to MT Blacklist.

I had an amazing meal at the Metropolitan Hotel last night. It was our Apple wrap party and if you every come into a ton of cash, I highly recommend it. I left there with a belly fully of lobster and fine wine. Fours hours seemed a bit long for dinner but it was worth the wait.

Lastly, thanks to Daymented who went beyond the Christmas card and sent cookies! How cool was that! I get my mail last night and there was Tupperware in the mailbox. “What the hell?”

After a bit of wrestling, I extracted the Tupperware and found homemade cookies! Thanks again Stace!

I’ve missed the Christmas card window and I’m feeling a bit guilty about that. I kept thinking that I should be getting some cards but never actually got around buying them. First year in a long time that I haven’t sent any out.

Ok, I’d better be off to work.

Go put a sweater on your butt

Hello, good evening and welcome. I come to you from my bunker complex, deep below the Manitoba crust. I will not be accepting callers as I prepare my 2005 predictions. To wit: I predict abundant harvests next year, despite acute shortages of seed, fertilizer, equipment, sun, rain, land and financing for farmers.

Before I retreated to my enclave, I did indeed register for a course at BCIT. I had given thought to doing the Securities Course again but it’s $800 these days! WTF? I paid $375 when I took it the first time. Then there’s the fact that I’ve already done it…

I don’t know how far I’ll go; I just want to take the class and see what happens. Maybe I’ll go for the certificate if it goes well. I think my previous economics and law credits should be valid so that would give me 4 of the 22 credits I need before I even start.

It’s something. I’m content with what I’m doing these days but it’s not what it used to be. I used to passionate and willing to do whatever it took. Now, not so much… I think I’ve become a little jaded and cynical with the tech industry. I do my job, I go home and then repeat the cycle.

I hope to be in tech for a good while yet but I think it’s a good to look for something that will re-ignite that fire again.

Well the blog went blank again. It’s not as if I don’t have anything to say (actually, I have nothing meaningful to say) but I just couldn’t be bothered.

Not much to report. I registered for a class at BCIT that’ll start in January. I’m kinda looking forward to going back and doing something just because I’m interested and I enjoy it. I wish it didn’t cost me $500 to do it though.

I also added a robots file to the site. If nothing else it seems to have quelled the crap in the ‘links from an external page’ in my stats page. Bet your’re happy for me now.

Lastly, I spent two hours watching poker on TV last Sunday. Who’d have thought it was so interesting to watch. These guys were throwing tens of thousands worth of chips around like it was nothing… “All in.” Amazing to watch.

There was this Eskimo guy who reminded me of Calvin. He ended up getting second place. At one point he had more that $2 million in chips in front of him and at the end he had nothing. I think he got $300k for second place and he basically shrugged and walked off. Pretty cool…
