Microsoft to release WMF patch at 2PM PST today

We’ve recieved word from our Enterprise Microsoft rep that they will be releasing the WMF patch this afternoon.

There’s news here, and I’ll include the details from the email we recieved from Microsoft in the comments following.

Yada, yada, yada… Microsoft finally snapped out of it and is releasing a patch for the Windows Meta File vulnerability.

This is one is ugly. Hit Window Update to get your patch.

Men Are From Google, Women Are From Yahoo

Men and women have different motivations for doing what they do.

According to a recent report from Pew Internet and American Life, women view the Internet as a place to extend, support, and nurture relationships and communities.

Men tend to see it as an office, a library, or a playground–screw the community, this is about function not family.

Probably not all that earth-shattering but interesting anyway. I used to really like Yahoo but once Google began to mature, it was a no brainer for me. I guess both have their place… I do hate Yahoo’s policy of making you sign in and keeping you on their site at all costs. Seems a little desperate.

Windows XP Home Will Be Obsolete In Less Than A Year

If you use Windows XP Home Edition then you should start saving up for Windows Vista right now. As of 31st December 2006 you will no longer receive Security updates for XP Home Edition.

If you use XP Pro or above you won’t have to upgrade till 31st December 2011. Windows 2000 users wont have to upgrade till 30th June 2010.

That’s nice. 99% of people who buy a PC at a big box retailer get home and find they are using XP Home. Given that the differences between Home and Pro are pretty minimal, it seems odd that there would be a difference in the support policies.
