Mac fans will have had this day marked on their calendars for months now; His Steveness and his [tag]Macworld[/tag] keynote. Being the only mac user I know, this will appeal to no one and that makes me smile. Is that wrong? Should I be saying that out loud?

The Apple TV was announced today looks interesting; not interesting enough for me to spend $350 on it but interesting. After all the work I’ve gone to in order to get [tag]MythTV[/tag] working with my xBox Media Center I really don’t see the need. It’s not like it records TV and unless you live in the US and can download TV from iTunes, it’s really just a wireless share. Maybe I’m missing something but until I can buy a box with a tuner that records TV, I’ll stick with what I have.

The [tag]iPhone[/tag] was also announced. The software looks super cool (it’s running [tag]OS X[/tag]) and I would welcome the easy mac sync but the form factor left me cold. At first glance it reminds me of the old Sony cell phones of a few years ago. Maybe all those iPhone videos that people dreamed up got to me. Having just upgraded my phone, I’m pretty happy with it. It’s not like the iPhone would work up here anyway, I have an iPod already and who can really afford a decent data plan anyway? Still, it’s pretty slick.

His Steveness talked for two hours and over an hour of that was iPhone related. There was no talk of [tag]Leopard[/tag] (seriously, wtf?). None at all, not even a “we’re still on track…”. I doubted they could get it out for Macworld though there was talk it would be released to beat down on Vista a little more. Still, throw us a bone…

iLife 2007 was also absent and it always gets upgraded at Macworld so that was odd. As well, all the rumours of .mac upgrades were wrong as there were none. None announced anyway. Not that I care. $120 a year for an email account and 2GB of storage is a joke. Actually, it would be a joke if it was reliable and worked well. Given what I read online, .mac is an utter waste of money.

Well, back to Google Reader to read the latest…
