Who is smarter?
A pigeon or a rent-a-cop? This happened last week, or maybe it was the week before, I really don’t remember. 6 months ago I would’ve race home with this blogworthy gem. Anyway… it was towards the end of the day at work and suddenly there was a fairly loud ‘boom’. Something had evidently hit one of the windows. “Quick! Blast shields up!” Blast shields being a Star Trek or Star Wars reference of some sort. Don’t know, don’t care… I’m quite sure I’m the only geek on the planet that doesn’t give a rats ass about Star TrekWars…
I run over and set the blast shields to 0% and we gather around to seek evidence of an alien/terrorist attack on the dev pit. The only evidence we could see was a bit of bird snot and a couple of feathers on the glass. OK, a really stupid bird has flown smack into a window, 15 floors up that had a ‘blast shield’ down. “That’s not another bird, it’s your reflection!” *thud*
It was about time to go, so I headed out deciding to see if I could find the unfortunate bird outside. I walked out onto the plaza to see a rent-a-cop walking past an obviously very dead pigeon. He sort of glances at it and continues past like he didn’t really see it.
I walk up and examine the bird and it’s very broken neck meanwhile the rent-a-cop sees me. “This thing just flew into our window on the 15th” I tell him. He wanders over to me and says “Yeah, I was thinking of radioing in to see if it should be removed from the premisis.” He seemed quite happy with himself.
I looked at him dumbfounded… “You were thinking about it?” Is this something you really need to ‘radio in’? One look at this pigeon’s neck would indicate that it was more than stunned, it was stone dead. So, to answer my own question, I say it’s too close to call. That’s a shame…
Well that concludes this blog entry. Thank you for visiting and see you in October…

Glad to hear that you’re still alive. Nice bird story. Not nearly as exciting as a spider story but I’ll take it. :-p
