June 17th, 2005 — this sucks
Biff sent some vacation pictures from his time down under. Evidently he has grown a moustache and apparently, found religion. That’s nice. “Glad that you had a good time dude…”
I’ve been experimenting with my root domain, recently trying out Drupal. It was easy enough to set up and get running once I created the database but I’m not sure it’s what I’m looking for. I don’t need forums and I don’t want people being required to get an account in order to get something out of the site. No account? Seriously crippled experience, which sucks.
There are a few more options to look into this weekend but I’m thinking that WordPress would probably work nicely. Karan has actually put his site up and has the same idea as me; more of a technology focus than a blog. Of course I have no idea how long it’ll remain up as he’s gone through a dozen live/dark cycles in the past year or so.
This is where I wrap up the post in a neat, tidy package. Sorry to disappoint you.

June 12th, 2005 — it's all about me
Midbach has done a hostile takeover and now runs this blog.
As it turned out, I wasn’t dark for very long. I decided to keep the blog alive but with a sub-domain and a new CMS. WordPress is a thing of beauty; all PHP, open source, a tiny footprint and less than 5 minutes to install and configure.
Part of the reason was I was trying to merge a new design into the MT template. What a freakin’ nightmare that was. MT just doesn’t have a lot of flexibility when it comes to advanced layouts. I spent an entire day last weekend trying to merge all the code and I wasn’t getting anywhere. Maybe I could have gotten it to work but it was just too frustrating to continue. WP seems pretty easy; everything is specified in a simple PHP file and it’s pretty easy to sort out.
So I’ve decided not to tell any of you meatheads about this. I’m not sure why; I guess I want some time to get used to WP. I’m sure it won’t take long to figure it out. In any event, most have stats and will start to see traffic coming from here.
So, here we go with version 7. Who knows how long it’ll continue. Who knows how long anything will continue…
