Sleep deprived

Happy Birthday Shirley!!

Well, I’m not really sleep deprived but I swear that daylight savings has screwed with my head worse than the trip did.

I actually am pretty happy with how I handled the jet lag this time around. I was a bit off for a couple of days, but generally I’ve been feeling good. Daylight savings, on the other hand, has screwed me right up. I’m eating at 9 or 10 at night and sleeping in like I never have before. Crazy… On the other hand, what do I have to get up for? I have no place to go.

Thank you to Stace who caught a number of typos with my Asian Trip page. I guess now I can expect every backwater redneck to be checking for typos now… No worries; I know he can’t spell either.

Lastly, I heard from my instructor and I’ll get credit for my course! I wonder if I got extra points for doing a phone interview at the same time?

Shorty

Thanks to Janice and Dan who had me over last night for dinner. Luckily for me, Dan recorded the Bahrain GP Sunday morning so we settled in after eating to watch the race.

Congrats are in order too as they have bought a townhouse not too far from where they live now. We did a drive by and it looks pretty nice from the outside. Certainly larger if nothing else… I await the housewarming invitaion with baited breath!

I have a couple of more days up for the trip. You’re going to have to monitor the site to see when I put up another day. I’m not on any sort of schedule. I have no schedule for anything these days…

Daylight Savings?

Damn, I’m kicking myself today. First I forgot to change my clocks and then I missed the Bahrain GP. I was looking at the Eastern time when I checked the schedule and obviously, missed it. That makes two missed races in a row… That’s never happened in thirteen years of watching.

It’s not all bad I guess; it gave some time to work on my trip pages. I have the first couple of days done and might do a day or two more this evening. Have a look.

The pages are coming along well given that I found a batch process to resize the pictures. Not to mention that I have good timestamps and more importantly, good notes. It’s funny how the trip gets all jumbled up in your memory.

Well I’m heading out for a bit. A large, warm orb has appeared in the sky.

I hope this isn’t a mistake

Ok, ok, here you go. Interview update.

The interview went well. They asked questions and I asked questions. Fairly standard procedure. At least this time I didn’t have a brain dump moments before arriving. I think I could be happy working there. I’m not 100% happy but pretty close.

We talked about money and benefits and while I’m not thrilled with the range they’re thinking about, it’s acceptable.

One of the things I’m not happy about is that they couldn’t make me an offer today. They need to wait for some contracts to be signed but I was assured that it was a 90% certainty that I would get an offer next week. I hope I’m not stepping in something here…

The good news is that I like the lead and my former lead is also waiting for an offer so that would be cool. I think it’s good company and I really just want a job.

I hated calling Derek and telling him that I couldn’t take the contract but what could I do? He was great again and hinted that he might have something coming up later on, so I guess if this does suck or falls apart I might still have a shot.

So there you go. You can now return to your lives :)
