Proofreading for Dummies

Thanks to Daymented who is the official asia.sevenapril.ca proofreader. I was sure I had caught all the errors but she found a few that I had missed. Oh, and good luck with your new project…

Given that I typed ass.sevenapril.ca and almost didn’t see it, I guess it should come as no surprise. Rogé, there is no ass.sevenapril.ca, I merely provided a link to track people who feel I’m a liar.

Today was the Sun Run in Vancouver but I didn’t go out to watch due to the rain. I mean I would have had to put on my jacket, get in the elevator and walk half a block to the designated viewing area. That seemed like a lot of work given that next year I’ll be able to watch it without leaving my apartment.

In lieu of that, I decided I would make my annual trip back to Metrotown and see if I could find some shoes. That was ill conceived. By the time the train got to Stadium Station, it was full of sweaty runners. It was alarming to see how many people took part who really have no business being in spandex. I, on the other hand look amazing in spandex and would take part in the run if only I had a lung capacity greater than that of a squirrel.

Dammit, I hate trying to think of a title every time I decide to blog. Like, I hardly have the cycles to come up with some drivel but once I muster some clever ‘topic’ to blog about, I hang on the title. Hmph…

I have two more days done on the trip. Go have a look so I don’t feel that I’m wasting my afternoons writing. Actually, judging from the logs, the pages look to be quite popular.

Looks like all is well for starting work next week. I have jumped through the required hoops and gotten approved. They are figuring that Tuesday will be the day. All I know is that I’ll feel better when I’ve signed something… After last year, I trust no one.

Lastly, I’m in a strange limbo here at home. I don’t really need to pack much given that I’m moving ten feet down the hall. On the other hand am I planning to run everything down the hall by the arm full? So I grabbed some boxes from my locker and have started to think about ‘packing’ some stuff. So now I have empty boxes littering my apartment. Well done…

So, I was browsing Apple.com as I often find myself doing and noted that Tiger is finally being released on April 29th and it’s looking great.

I’m trying very hard to find a way to justify a Powerbook but they’re so expensive. I could buy a heathen laptop and a lesser mac and still have a ton of cash left in my pocket. *ponders* I guess the big issue for me is that I really want to move to a laptop and be done with it. What I don’t want to do is decide to get an iBook (still pricey) and then regret not having bought a Powerbook. I figure you should always get what you want and be happy. When my MP3 player died I looked at an iPod and thought it was too much money so I got a flash player. 3 months later I bought an iPod and have never been so happy with a toy.

I was surprised to find that my BCIT student ID qualifies me for Apple’s student discount. Not a huge discount mind you but enough to just about cover the cost of my course which sort of makes it all worthwhile. *justifying*

I’ve slowly been cutting back on the number of machines I use and now could easily ‘make do’ with a laptop. My fileserver, which is really just a repository, could easily be replaced with an external HD. There’s a ton of crap on there that I’ll never use again; Windows NT, old versions of Partition Magic and tons of other, obsolete software.

Whatever, even if I decide to get one, it’ll be a while before I actually do it. If you haven’t already, it’s time to hit Windows Update after a number of patches were released on Tuesday.
