What the hell?

I upgraded to MT 3.11 this evening and everything went smoothly. Upload the files, change permissions, run scripts and delete scripts. “Wow, that was easy…”

Yeah, a bit too easy it would seem. I’ve found that MT Blacklist has an ugly bug with the BerkeleyDB. Guess which database I use? So now I need to either upgrade or manually deal with (delete by hand) the spam-scum.

Secondly, for some reason comments are not appearing when they are made but rather need to be approved. Now that I think about it, that will work out OK until I get MT Blacklist going. What bugs me is that I set the comments to not require approval.

3.11 looks pretty sweet and has a nice feature set that I’ll need to look into a bit more. I was also happy that it respected my original templates (it should have, it was an upgrade). I’m thinking about a new look as this one has gotten pretty tired if you ask me but I wasn’t into doing it tonight.

Went for a killer ride today! I took the seawall to Science World and went around the south side. Toured Granville Island (why would anyone drive there?) and then the Burrard bridge back to the safety of the West End. Tomorrow I think I’ll do the same trip but clockwise this time.

Yeah, that’s me; livin’ on the edge…

Well, here goes… nine months on and once again, we’ll see if this pig can fly.

Unabashed Consumerism

Well, I guess when things are going well, I have zip to say. How odd. Though, I guess it’s alwasy easier to bitch about things rather than running off at the mouth over how woderful things are.

I wonder what would be more annoying; constant griping or a pollyanna view on life? I’d find out but it seems like a lot of work.

So, some snippets from the past few days. I’m still riding to work and loving it. After the commute home today, it became obvious that a front fender is in order.

Friday was nice too. I got a new MP3 player to replace my Rio which reboots when you touch any button. Hmmm… Windows CE inside? It’s nice though not entirely perfect but I’m happy. After dragging my Sony Walkman around for 2 weeks it’s like heaven. That damn thing is like having a car battery hanging off your belt.

I also got a Gmail account on Friday! Me so happy! Not like I needed another email account but it is pretty cool. I really like the way they manage the conversation threads though I find it strange that they encourage you not to delete mail.

“No conversations in the trash. Who needs to delete when you have 1000 MB of storage?!”

Lastly, my sympathies to Roger and his family who lost their grandfather today.

Tips For Labour Day

Top three excuses for sleeping on the job. Seems right for the holiday weekend…

1. “Whew! Musta left the cap off the liquid paper again”
2. “I wasn’t sleeping. I was trying to pick up my contact lens without my hands”
3. “The blood bank told me this might happen”

you can rest easy now

OK, now I know it’s time for bed…

All I really want out of life are salon quality hair care products at drug store prices…

That, dear reader should be a good indicator of the quality of this entry. Life is going along pretty well, work is great, the weather is decent and for the first time this year, the planets would seem to have aligned. What a shame it took until now but at least it happened.

Have a gander at flickr; a photo sharing service which is nothing remarkable. What is cool is that you can subscribe to RSS feeds and get random pics sent to your RSS reader. My favourite is decay.

Something that I did find interesting was the news that Dofasco (the Canadian conglomerate) has commissioned a Formula 1 car from Dallara. They’ve put up an $80 million down payment for the chassis with the intention of competing in 2006.

If they follow through, they’ll also need to pony up $48 million for a bond to compete plus hire staff, get an engine (call it a ‘lump’ if you want to sound kewl) and build a factory. I would assume they’d be based out of the UK but how cool would it be to have them right here! Wherever they end up, it would be sweet to have a Canadian team.

I thought I had something else but currently, it escapes me.

“Now get in there and make me some bean dip…”
