Fresh Air

This weekend I went shopping for a new bike and found a nice one. I started riding to work last week and have really enjoyed it but my old bike was a mess. Actually, it just needs a tune up but it’s big and heavy and I thought I’d look for somethig more suitable.

After walking up and down Broadway in the rain all day Saturday, I spotted one. Biff mentioned that he got his bike downtown and I wanted to stop into that place as well but they were more than I wanted to spend. In the end, I returned on Sunday and bought the bike I saw on Saturday.

The price was right, the bike was comfortable and I hadn’t found anything similar, for the price. I quick run to Mountain Equipment Co-op netted me a lock, lights and some other stuff. I have a few other items to pick up but I’m pretty much set.

I got a couple of good rides Sunday and really enjoyed my ride into work today. (That should set Biff off again…). After work, I rode to English Bay and had dinner; got to get it in while summer is still around.

All this as fall is only three weeks away.

Quickie

A quick entry because it pisses me off when the page goes blank (yeah, I know I could just adjust it). I’ve been meaning to blog a few times this week but never got around to it. Towards the latter part of the week, I was finding myself pretty beat by the time the early evening rolled around.

The week went well and wrapped up on Friday with a goodbye party at The Automotive. Yes, that’s right, I’ve been laid off (I’m kidding!). One developer and our co-ops are done on Tuesday so we went down to say goodbye. The company paid for everything which was really nice too. It was also much fun riding home after too many beers and not enough food.

Yes, I have started to ride to work and I love it. My commute is cut in half and consists of a quick blast across the West End and then I ride along the seawall to Yaletown. Everyone should have such an enjoyable commute; the world would be a happier place.

Enough for now. I need a quick shower and then I’m going to run to Safeway for a couple of things getting home with just enough time to catch the start of the Belgium GP.

Biff Jumps

Congrats to my good buddy Paul who has finally grown a pair and jumped from the once mighty, Infowave ship. He’s taken a position as a junior copier operator at Kinkos and I’m sure that I am not alone in wishing him well in his new mcjob. Seriously though, I’m happy for you dude!

I did note with some interest that IW stock was up almost 5% on the day he gave his notice. Of course that’s only a penny and I’m sure it’ll resume it’s downward spiral in no time.

I’m installing Panther on the G3 that Paul dropped off last night. We didn’t take the keyboard situation into account so I brought mine home from work today. I’ve used Panther for two days at work and I love it. It’s very easy to use and just beautiful to look at. I could see a switch in my future; right after I win the lottery…

In response to a comment made to an earlier post, I too would like to see Spanky have a website of his very own. Hmmm…. what did I do with that template?
