Easter Energy

In typical fashion, I had a burst of creative energy and spent most of Friday and Saturday working on my sites.

Saturday I uploaded the new versions of the about and tools pages. Nothing too crazy here, I used an existing page as the template for these. I was mostly spurred on by the new menu system I’m using; something that I’ve been meaning to get to for a while now (how about looking for a job?).

Figuring that a beautiful, warm, sunny day shouldn’t get in the way of my progress, I also finished up the asian pages. I revisited day six as I had gotten screwed up and left some pictures out. Then I completed day seven and day eight. For good measure I did a page of links. These are links to just about everywhere I went while I was in Japan and Korea.

Lastly I started work on my All About Google page and threw it up as well.

This morning I gave thought to upgrading to MT 2.661 but decided to wait for version three but I did add the MT Blacklist plugin. I’ve been seeing more and more comment spam and this is another tool to fight it that should be more effective than IP banning (I mean Biff’s comments are still making it through…).

The install was typically complex but would have been easier if I had actually read the instructions first. Who reads instructions? They’re for suckers…

How’s that? Good then, see you in May…

Spring Cleaning

A big thanks to everyone who helped me to celebrate my birthday this week! I haven’t had to cook a meal since Tuesday and to me, that’s the best gift in the world.

Not having anything to blog about; well I guess that should really read not having the motivation to blog but I digress. Anyway, I decided to move things around a little. There’s a new menu thingy and obviously, the calendar and cams have mysteriously swapped sides.

I also redid the about page using the Asia templates. No, it’s not up yet and I still need to finish the last two days from the trip but I’m getting there.

Perhaps there will be more later…

[UPDATE] I uploaded the new versions of the About and Tools pages.

With a bit of motivation I’ll get the balance of the Asia pages up. I also have plans for a page devoted to all things Google. [/UPDATE]

No Injuries

I’m happy to report that the beam raising at the Shnewt’s on Sunday went well. We hoisted those puppies up and into the apartment with a minimum of difficulty and then gorged ourselves on beer and pizza.

Rachel wouldn’t let us drink until they were in which seemed a bit harsh thought probably smart. Meanwhile Biff was insulting the guests before the ropes were even on the beams which was not smart.

Met up with Neal for a coffee this afternoon and we sat in the sun for a few hours soaking up the rays. Days like these make it easier to be unemployed though I won’t dwell on that now…

Still suffering from writers block, I shall close.

Sunny days

I’ve decided to re-rip all my CDs. This is necessary after an unfortunate FDISK incident that I won’t get into here. The new drive is so fast; maybe three minutes per disk so it’s not too painful. If I were working now, I’d buy a second drive and get a RAID setup going… Then I wouldn’t be fretting about backups.

Yesterday I went to help Paul and Rachel move some beams that they had ordered for the loft. Being 18′ long, we soon found out that they wouldn’t fit into the hall so Rachel and I lugged them around to the parking garage (Biff is delicate…)

On Sunday, the plan is to drag them four floors up the outside of the building. Not only are these things huge, they’re wet too. Is this fraught with danger and a class action lawsuit just waiting to happen? Yep. On the positive side, there’ll be lotsa friends not to mention food and adult beverages. I’m predicting a 10% casualty rate…

To do list

Ok, it’s pretty lame when I post so infrequently that the page goes blank… Still lacking the motivation to blog about anything. There’s nothing going on and therefore, nothing to say.

Made it back from Kelowna ok. I stayed longer than I had planned but there were things to do and they wouldn’t have been done by Monday. Plus it’s not like I had any reason to come racing home.

Dammit! There’s not even a Friday 5 to help me out here… *shakes fist and curses*

Well, how ’bout my ‘to do’ list? Hmmm… Let’s see; in no order of priority:

1: I should clean the bathroom
2: Still haven’t done my taxes. Well, they’re done; I haven’t sent the forms yet.
3: Have to renew my hosting plan or this will all go away…
4: Take gifts to Nicol for getting ticket to Korea. (What an idiot, how long have I been back?)
5: Go and slap Neal for moving to Burnaby
6: Look for a job…

I’ve also given thought to continuing to torment Biff as he goes through his cleanse. Seems kinda predictable.
