*glee*

Guess who got called for a second interview? That’s right, Biff is just about there in his career change to uber pedicure meister. Way to go dude! It wouldn’t be my first choice for a career move but I don’t have a job so what do I know? Shoot for the stars…

Oh yeah, I also got a call back which surprised me. Not getting a call nearly as much as getting it the day after the interview as I was told it would be a few days. Nice! Looks like I made an impression which was not a result of Biff’s advice to wear something tight.

Now I’ve been in this position before and didn’t get the job so I haven’t booked a pedicure with Biff just yet (not that I would but I like to help my friends).

I’ve gone from cautiously optimistic to optimistic. I’ll reserve excitement for if/when an offer is presented. It’s hard not to get excited though; it’s a great company and a bit of a different role for me so keep your appendages crossed…

Dumbass

Good afternoon. Did you notice today is 4/20? *wink*

That’s four, twenty *nod*

Yeah, ok. I don’t know what that means either…

My interview with the mystery company was this morning and I think it went well. Really nice people and from what we discussed, it would seem that they have a great working atmosphere. That also includes allowing people to have a life outside of work. What a novel concept that would be.

They’re talking to a few more this week and with a pinch of luck I’ll go back for a second round before being formally rejected.

Sadly, I was able to sleep last night which means that the Canucks blew chunks again. Sorry guys but you didn’t deserve to win. You didn’t even look like you were interested though the goal with five seconds remaining in the third was a nice touch.

I’ll be here as ever, watching in the fall but you really sucked. Hopefully there will be season beyond the preseason but there’ll be no more hockey for me.

Another chance…

Here’s an interesting article that demonstrates why good spyware tools are essential. “Industry experts suggest that these types of programs may infect up to 90 percent of all Internet connected computers.” That’s depressing; the internet is going to hell…

In news of the hopeful, I have lined up an interview for Tuesday morning. To say this would be a dream job is an understatement so I’m pretty excited about the chance I’ve been given. At the same time I know that there will be very qualified people to go up against so I’m cautious. The description is pretty involved but I know that if I got the chance I could do the job. Cross your fingers that all goes well for me. Time will tell.

I was talking to Biff yesterday and we are planning a Kill Bill party as he picked it up on DVD. He figured we’d have a viewing before going to see part 2. He’s currently in Toronto on a ten day pedicure workshop… Really… Whatever floats your boat dude.

Dammit, I’m trying to enjoy my first taco feast of spring and do you think I have any sour cream in the house?

You’ve all been waiting

I don’t know how much of that ‘energy’ is left in me but after tonight, it’s waining. However, I did actully sniff around for a job today. There’s not as much QA out there as I thought but there’s some.

I spent the entire morning searching and then trying to sell myself through a cover letter. Do you have any idea of how hard it is to get your abilities across in a page? It’s tough.

I’m applying for jobs that I know I could do but have no formal experience in and because of that I’m wasting my time (but covering my ass). When your field is thin, you have to spread your wings a little but likely it won’t amount to anything.

Did you hear that? It was the sound of the Delete button being clicked across Vancouver.

After that I figured that I would start work on returning all the pages from 2002 and 2003. The result? Many hours of work later, the Page Vault. This is one of my personal favorites.

It was amusing to look back, particularily at the 2002 pages; my ‘coding skills’ have come a long way from back then. It would also appear that I had more fun blogging back then. Not that I don’t enjoy it now, but I’ll be the first to admit that my writing isn’t what it used to be.

Maybe I’m just in a funk but it was depressing to look back at the old entries and see how many were based upon a struggle to find a job. Hell, that was why I created this site; to kill some time while I was looking for a job.

I hate titles

Well, the Easter energy has not abated; I’ve been very much on top of things since the weekend. Hell I even applied for a job. I won’t get it but I threw my hat in the ring.

Neil finally sent me his site files and I had a look at them. I came up with a new site in about four hours last night and I think it looks pretty good. He’s looking at it now and I’m sure he’ll have some revisions for me. It was a lot of fun to do and it got me thinking about what I could/should be doing around here.

I also finally got my taxes sent off today. After looking at it again I realized that Quicken had calculated it correctly and the totals were right. Why I thought that I knew better is beyond me and that was the reason for me holding off looking at it.

Now something that all of you should do it go to Windows Update and get yourselves updated as five new critical patches were released today. I believe that three of them address the really ugly Cross-Domain Scripting Vulnerability that has been in the news so much.

I got a belated birthday wish from April today. A fellow Vancouver blogger, she just got her site up and seems to be off to a good start.
